Lately there has been much curiosity around Jordi Farré after he said: ❛ We know that we will win the elections and that I will be president of Barça. We have it very clear ❜. I by no means think he is so sure about what he said, but he wanted to do what he accomplished: grab our attention.
Farré is presenting himself as a pre-candidate for the presidential elections for the second time, after in 2015 he lacked 500 signatures to be a candidate. It seems like he has been approaching many socis, and some of his ideas are very interesting. Such as Barça making their own shirts, instead of Nike: ❛ No one buys the shirt for the Nike logo, but rather for the Barça crest. That is why I say producing in Catalonia, which should also be the club’s main sponsor ❜. And ❛ 80% of the first team players should be from La Masía ❜, even if this could be too exaggerated. Yet, even if I don’t know deeply on him, such false promises are seen often.
There will be many names running for president until 2021. This seems to be the way of doing things at Barcelona: many improvise and leave all the work till the final year before the elections. That’s why I prefer Víctor Font to everyone else. He has been planning his project since 2013, presented it in 2015, and could have taken part and even won in that year’s elections, but didn’t consider himself prepared yet.
Sí Al Futur are not just empty words, but something much more real and tangible. Font has been acquiring information, contacting professionals, maturing his strategy. Obviously we don’t know categorically what will he do once he’s the president, but we have a much clearer idea and more certainty than with the other candidates. He’s not just selling his image.
